Cyberpunk 2077 Update Adds Dual-Wielding, Cross-Platform Mods and Edgerunners Quest
CD Projekt Red has detailed a big Cyberpunk 2077 update landing 22nd October on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Switch 2 version following days later.
CD Projekt Red has detailed a substantial update for Cyberpunk 2077 during a RedStream, and it brings a new dual-wielding perk, cross-platform mod support and a fresh story quest tied to the Netflix anime Edgerunners. CDPR media manager Laura Beitzel gave the release timing, as reported by Eurogamer.
Platforms and release timing
The update arrives on 22nd October on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. The Switch 2 version will come "in a couple of days" after that, according to Beitzel. No exact Switch 2 date was given in the source material.
New quests and story content
The headline addition is Clampdown, a side quest set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. To unlock it, you need to finish The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, then wait for a message from her. It was written with people involved in the Netflix show and features voice actors from the anime.
Details were kept thin on purpose. CDPR publishing producer Natlia Pych said it is a prequel to Edgerunners 2 and "the last job of the King's team". You will meet team members Emily, Meshuga and Miguel. Completing the quest gives a new five-piece gear set based on King.
A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, adds 16 tracks from both Edgerunners series, according to Pych's colleague Pawel Sasko.
Another new quest type, Night City Tours, is a less action-focused mystery. Night City founder Richard Night tells you the city's lore while events around him don't quite add up, and you have to work out why. Minor tarot arcana are also being added to find, tied to a physical deck going on sale.
Gameplay and customisation
- Double Trouble: a new perk in the Cool tree, plus four auxiliary perks, lets you dual-wield Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category.
- Glamdocs: five new vendors let you recolour and reskin hand cyberware, including Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System. Each has its own shop and intro scene.
- Fashion: five new clothing sets are available from certain vendors, with one more arriving later. The NUS Infiltrator set can be bought in Kabuki and Japantown.
- Hairstyles: some styles that were previously NPC-only are now available to V, though some depend on body type.
- Extras: Cyberpunk Trading Card Game frames come to Photo Mode, and four TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech are offered through Twitch Drops.
Mods and technical changes
Cross-platform mod support works through Mod.io, with an in-game panel for browsing, downloading and installing mods. Eurogamer notes it closely mirrors the system recently added to The Witcher 3's Remastered update. Sasko said it is a work in progress, with more mods to be added over time.
Technical changes include a field of view slider, DLSS 4.5 support and Metal frame interpolation and denoising on Mac. CDPR also promised a "ton" of other optimisations.

If you play on PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, the update should be available from 22nd October. Switch 2 players will need to wait a few extra days. To reach the Clampdown quest, finish The Heist and two Wakako gigs first, so it may be worth getting those done beforehand.
