Editorial policy

The standards every Fairgate Report story is held to.

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Accuracy and sourcing

We report only what a named, verifiable source states: official announcements, statements from leagues, companies and public bodies, court and government records, and reputable news organisations. Sources are linked at the end of every story. When something is unconfirmed or sources disagree, we say so rather than choose a version.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to monitor trends and to draft articles from the sources linked in each story. AI is never used as a source of facts. Before a story is published:

  • every factual claim (names, numbers, dates, quotes, results) is checked against the cited sources, and unsupported claims are removed;
  • the headline is checked against the body and the sources;
  • stories about crime and courts, health, deaths and tragedies, politics, and events still in progress are held for an editor or not published;
  • stories without at least one full-text reputable source are not published.

An editor monitors everything we publish and can correct, update or withdraw any story. The editor is responsible for what appears on the site.

Headlines

Headlines describe what the story actually contains. We do not use misleading, exaggerated or bait headlines.

Live events

We do not report scores or results while an event is still in progress, because they change within minutes. We publish previews before an event and results once the event has finished.

Photos

We use photos that are licensed for reuse, mainly from Wikimedia Commons, Openverse and stock libraries, and credit the author and licence under each image. Where no suitable licensed photo exists, we use a generated illustration that does not depict real people. Rights holders can ask us to remove an image via the contact page.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and the story shows the time it was updated. Significant errors are corrected in the text itself. To report an error, write to us via the contact page; we aim to review correction requests within 24 hours.

Independence and advertising

Fairgate Report is funded by advertising served by third-party networks. Advertisers do not influence what we cover or how. Ads are labelled as advertisements, and we do not publish sponsored content presented as news.
