Payments for October 19–25, 2026: Social Security for Birth Dates 11th–20th Is Due Wednesday
Only one federal benefit payment is dated this week: Social Security for birth dates 11th–20th on Wednesday, Oct. 21. SSI, VA and military pay come next week.

What is paid this week
The calendar for Monday, October 19, through Sunday, October 25, 2026, is light. According to the Social Security Administration (SSA) schedule, the only payment dated this week is the Wednesday, October 21 Social Security deposit for people born on the 11th through the 20th of any month.
That date is the third Wednesday of October. If you were born between the 1st and 10th or on the 21st or later, your regular payment does not fall on this day.

How SSA sets the dates
SSA pays Social Security on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month, depending on birth date. Birth dates 1st–10th are paid on the second Wednesday, 11th–20th on the third, and 21st–31st on the fourth.

There is an exception. People who started receiving benefits before May 1997, or who receive both Social Security and SSI, are paid on the 3rd of the month instead. SSI itself is paid on the 1st.
A payment due on a weekend or federal holiday is paid on the business day before. SSA also asks people to allow three additional mailing days before contacting the agency if a payment does not arrive when expected.
What is not paid this week
The other agencies in the schedule pay at the start of the month, so none has a payment this week:
- VA: disability compensation and pension are paid at the beginning of each month for the prior month.
- OPM: federal civilian retirement annuities are paid for the previous month, usually on the first business day.
- Railroad Retirement: benefits must be posted by the first business day of each month. Banks may post them early but do not have to.
- DFAS: military retired pay is paid on the 1st for the month before. Survivor annuitants are paid on the first business day of the month.
Next week: October 26–November 1
Several payments arrive early next week because November 1 falls on a weekend, which sends those dates to the business day before.
- Wednesday, October 28: Social Security, birth date 21st–31st.
- Friday, October 30: military retired pay (DFAS).
- Friday, October 30: SSI for November.
- Friday, October 30: VA disability compensation and pension.
The VA and Treasury rules explain the pattern. When the 1st falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the Treasury dates the payment the business day before. That is why some months carry two VA payments and the next month carries none.
What it means for you
If you were born between the 11th and 20th, plan for your Social Security deposit on Wednesday, October 21. Everyone else on the birth-date schedule should look to October 28 or, for the 1st–10th group, their usual second-Wednesday date next month.
Households that rely on SSI, VA or military retired pay should know that their next payments arrive on Friday, October 30, not in November. If you budget around the 1st, expect the money a couple of days sooner. Before contacting SSA about a missing payment, wait the three additional mailing days it recommends.
