Social Security checks arrive on Oct. 14, 21 or 28 by birth date, while SSI and early-start payments moved up. Here is the full October 2026 calendar and what comes in November.

Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments follow a fixed calendar published by the Social Security Administration (SSA), and this month's schedule has a few dates that moved. The main reason is that October 3 falls on a Saturday, so one group of beneficiaries was paid a day early.

Payment dates by group

Most people who receive retirement, survivors or disability benefits are paid on a Wednesday that depends on their birth date:

  • Born on the 1st–10th: Wednesday, October 14, 2026
  • Born on the 11th–20th: Wednesday, October 21, 2026
  • Born on the 21st–31st: Wednesday, October 28, 2026

These are the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month, and none of them is affected by a weekend or holiday this month.

The dates that already passed or moved

Some beneficiaries are paid on the 3rd of the month instead. That applies to people who started receiving Social Security before May 1997, and to those who receive both Social Security and SSI. Because October 3 is a Saturday, SSA's rules call for payment on the business day before, so these payments went out on Friday, October 2.

SSI is normally paid on the 1st. For October, that was Thursday, October 1, so no change was needed.

As of Sunday, October 4, both of those payment dates have passed. SSA asks people to allow three additional mailing days before contacting the agency if a payment does not arrive on the expected date.

Why SSI recipients see two October payments

SSI recipients will see two payments dated in October. The first came on October 1. The second arrives Friday, October 30, and it is the SSI payment for November 2026. It comes early because November 1 falls on a Sunday, and the weekend rule moves the payment to the previous business day.

This does not mean an extra payment. It is simply November's payment arriving before the month starts.

Looking ahead to November 2026

The November calendar also includes a holiday shift:

  • SSI: Friday, October 30 (as above)
  • 3rd-of-the-month payments: Tuesday, November 3
  • Born on the 1st–10th: Tuesday, November 10, moved up because November 11 is Veterans Day
  • Born on the 11th–20th: Wednesday, November 18
  • Born on the 21st–31st: Wednesday, November 25

What it means for you

Find your birth date in the list above to know your payday. Anyone born on the 1st–10th should expect money on October 14, which is the next scheduled Social Security date. If you are paid on the 3rd or receive SSI and your October payment has not shown up, SSA's guidance is to wait three more mailing days before getting in touch.

If you pay bills from a SSI or Social Security deposit, note that the November SSI payment lands on October 30 and the November 1st–10th group is paid a day early, on November 10. The agency's official calendar is published at ssa.gov/pubs/calendar.htm.
