PS Plus Free Games for October 2026: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and EDF
Sony has revealed October's PlayStation Plus monthly games: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, available from October 6.
Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for October 2026, and the lineup is F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. The announcement went out on September 30.
The games can be added to your library from Tuesday, October 6, until Monday, November 2.
The October 2026 lineup
F1 25 is the official game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. It has single-player modes such as Career and My Team 2.0, where you run your own Formula 1 team as its owner. Online, F1 World gets a new multiplayer mode in which friends race together as a squad against AI drivers.
IGN gave the game 8/10 and called it "far broader and better" than the previous year's installment. It also pointed out that the game launched last year, so it is a little out of date.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 is an extraction shooter. You hunt monster bosses in corrupted backwaters, claim a bounty and then try to extract alive, while other players compete for the same prize. You can play solo or with up to two teammates. IGN says the PS5 version also includes a battle royale offering. It scored the original game 7.5/10.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is a third-person shooter on PS4 and PS5. You build a team of four from collected soldiers, including some from EDF spin-offs, and fight giant enemies, among them redesigned voxel versions of old favorites. It supports four-player online co-op and two-player local split screen.
How to claim them
According to Kotaku, the games are open to subscribers on every tier: Essential, Extra and Premium. Once you add them to your library, you can install and play them as long as your subscription stays active.
Sony notes that the lineup may differ by region, so check the PlayStation Store on release day. PS Plus also carries a recurring subscription fee.
Last chance for September's games
September's games stay claimable until Monday, October 5. They are Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes.

Sony is also running some seasonal extras for PS Plus members:
- Horror-themed in-game item bundles for a range of PS5 and PS4 games. They include the Call of Duty: Warzone Horror Bundle (October 1), the Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack (October 6) and the Overwatch 2 Dragur Reinhardt + 5 Tier skips Pack (October 7).
- Limited-edition Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars, arriving October 6 exclusively on Sony Pictures Core. Members can claim them in the app at no extra cost. Non-members have to get the film on Sony Pictures Core to receive them. The promotion ends October 20, 2026.
Is it a spooky lineup?
Not especially. Kotaku's writer was disappointed that only Hunt: Showdown 1896 has Halloween-adjacent vibes, and described F1 25 as a solid racing game that isn't scary at all. Even so, the writer said they were excited to finally try Hunt with friends now that it's free on PS Plus.
Sony hasn't yet revealed what comes after November 2. A new batch of games is expected to replace these.
