How to Claim the Free 007 First Light Starter Pack on PS5, Xbox and PC
IO Interactive's free 007 First Light Starter Pack covers the opening mission. Here is where to get it on Xbox, Steam and PS5, and what the sources say about access.
How to get the free Starter Pack
IO Interactive has released a free taster of 007 First Light, its James Bond adventure. The Starter Pack lets players try the opening mission, which VGC says takes about an hour.
Xbox: Pure Xbox says to search for "007 First Light" in the store and download the "Free Starter Pack" edition.
PC: VGC reports the pack is available to everyone on Steam.
PS5: This is where the sources differ. VGC says the PS5 version is locked behind a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, like many other game demos. IO Interactive's post, embedded by VGC, says Premium members can get a trial with one hour of gameplay.
Push Square, meanwhile, says IO Interactive announced a Starter Pack for every PS5 owner. It says the download arrives on the PS Store from 10 November 2026. Push Square adds that the game has also been added to PS Plus Premium as an hour-long trial.
What you get
The pack covers the opening mission, called Against the Odds by VGC and Push Square. Pure Xbox spells it "Against All Odds". It begins on Iceland's stormy shores and introduces a younger, rougher Bond than the one seen in the films, VGC says.
Pure Xbox describes the mission as investigating a compromised MI6 drop and tracking down a missing science team. If you buy the full game afterward, you continue from where you stopped instead of starting over, according to VGC and Push Square.
Sales on the full game
Pure Xbox says the game is on sale on the Xbox Store at its lowest price yet: £35.99 / $41.99. Push Square says the Deluxe Edition is 50% off at £34.99 / $39.99 in the PS Store Black Friday sale until 21 November 2026.
On reception, VGC gave the game 5/5 in its review. Pure Xbox says it holds a Metacritic score of 88 on Xbox.
What it means for you
If you are on Xbox or PC, you can try the first mission now at no cost. On PS5, check the PS Store: the one-hour Premium trial is reportedly live, and the open Starter Pack is due from 10 November. The PS Store discount runs until 21 November.
VGC also notes the game comes to Switch 2 on 18 March 2027.
