Nintendo's Halloween-season eShop sale is close to ending, and a new guide from Nintendo Life is helping shoppers decide what to buy. The "Screaming Deals" promotion covers a wide range of Switch 1 and Switch 2 games in North America, and the outlet has pulled together the titles it considers the best of the bunch.

What the sale covers

According to Nintendo Life, the sale runs on the North American eShop until 31 October at 11:59 PT. The outlet describes the deadline as a few days away, so check the eShop for the exact time left.

The guide is not a full catalog of the sale. Nintendo Life says it picked every "Screaming Deals" game it rated 9/10 or higher. It added one personal pick from a game that fell below that bar. The sources provided here do not include sale prices or discount percentages, so check the eShop listing for each game's current price.

Games highlighted so far

Here are the titles Nintendo Life describes in its guide. The praise below is the outlet's own view.

  • Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown: Nintendo Life calls it the pinnacle of the series. It says the Switch conversion does little to degrade the experience, even though the game arrived over five years after other platforms.
  • Alien: Isolation: The outlet calls it a survival horror masterpiece. It credits Feral Interactive's port, motion controls and the inclusion of all previously released DLC.
  • Animal Well: Nintendo Life highlights its meticulously crafted, singular design, which it says has potentially years' worth of discoveries baked in.
  • Bad North: A Viking-themed real-time strategy game from Swedish developer Plausible Concept, which calls it "micro-strategy."
  • Balatro: Described as a roguelike for people who don't usually like roguelikes, with an accessible and addictive loop.
  • Botany Manor: Nintendo Life compares it to The Witness and StreetPass Garden, but says it is its own thing.

The source text available for this story cuts off after Botany Manor. The remaining entries in the 65-game list are not covered here, so the full guide is the place to see them.

What it means for you

If you want any of these games at a lower price, the deadline is 31 October at 11:59 PT on the North American eShop. Nintendo Life says the discounts will not return until the next sale. Prices and the full list of discounted games are on the eShop, so check there before you buy. Nintendo Life's guide also links to eShop credit, and it says some links are affiliate links.
