Nier: Automata Update Pushes Steam Install Size From 50GB to 366GB
A recent Nier: Automata update on Steam appears to have a bug that stacks the base game's size onto each DLC, and neither Square Enix nor PlatinumGames has acknowledged it, according to VGC.

Nier: Automata's Steam install size has ballooned from roughly 50GB to 366GB. According to Video Games Chronicle (VGC), a recent update on Steam inflated the install size to that figure.
Why the game grew to 366GB
VGC reports the jump seems to come from a bug. The full game's file size appears to be counted again for each piece of DLC. Add them all up and you get 366GB for the complete game with its add-ons, against about 50GB before the update.
The number was initially suspected to be a typo on Steam, but RPG Site has since tested the install and found that the game does require 366GB, VGC says.
The update itself is small. It reportedly adds support for three new languages: Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. It does not appear to add much other content that would explain the extra space.
What players are seeing
Reports are mixed. VGC says some players find the issue fixed on their end, while others still see inflated sizes when they install the game or the update.
The Steam store page still lists a 50GB requirement. The larger figure seems to show up only when you try to install after buying the game.
VGC says the game is seeing some negative reviews, seemingly from players unable to install it. It says neither Square Enix nor PlatinumGames has acknowledged the mistake, so it is unclear when a fix will reach everyone. VGC says the bug will likely be addressed in a hotfix soon.
What about PS5 and Xbox?
The reports describe the problem only on Steam. There is no confirmed change in storage needs on PlayStation or Xbox.
What it means for you
If you play on Steam, VGC advises holding off on installing the game or the new update until a hotfix arrives. It also suggests switching off auto-updates on Steam if you cannot revert to the earlier version right now. The store page's 50GB figure may not match what the install prompt asks for.
