GTA 6 Pre-Load Starts November 10: File Size and Timings for PS5 and Xbox
Rockstar has confirmed GTA 6 can be pre-loaded from November 10. Here is the 212GB storage requirement and when the download unlocks on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
When the download unlocks
Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI can be pre-loaded starting November 10, so players can have the game installed before launch. According to Eurogamer, which cites Rockstar's official website, the start time differs by platform.
On PlayStation 5, pre-download opens at midnight on November 10 in your own local time. The PlayStation Blog says it is available to players who have pre-ordered.
On Xbox Series X|S, Eurogamer reports the pre-load starts at 12am GMT on November 10. That is one single moment worldwide rather than a rolling local midnight. Eurogamer published a list of common time zone equivalents, but the table was not included in the material we reviewed, so check Rockstar's page for your region.
How much space you need
The PlayStation Blog tells players to clear a minimum of 212GB of storage on their PS5. Eurogamer gives the same 212GB figure as the total free space needed on console.
That is a very large install. PlayStation also suggests looking at options to extend PS5 storage before launch. Eurogamer jokes that you may have to delete some current games to make room.
How to pre-load
You must pre-order the game first. On PlayStation, find Grand Theft Auto VI in the PlayStation Store and pre-order it, or buy through participating retailers. On Xbox Series X|S, Eurogamer says the process is the same: open the store, pre-order and then start the download.
Rockstar's support site has detailed instructions for both consoles, according to Eurogamer. PlayStation also advises new players to create an account and sign in on the console. Existing players should check that their sign-in and account details are up to date.
PlayStation says the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition includes an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons and apparel. Editions and pricing are listed on the PlayStation Store product page. We have no confirmed prices to report here.
What it means for you
Check your free space now. A 212GB install can take a long time on a slow connection, and starting on November 10 gives you nine days before the November 19 launch stated by PlayStation. If your console is nearly full, decide what to delete or whether to add storage.
Xbox players should note that the unlock is tied to GMT rather than local time. Depending on where you live, it may arrive well before or after your own midnight.
