Farming life sim Ova Magica is heading to consoles. According to Gematsu, publisher Top Hat Studios and developer Skinny Frog have set a November 10 launch for six platforms, covering current and older hardware.

The full platform list

The console versions will arrive on:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Nintendo Switch 2
  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox One
  • Nintendo Switch

That means players on last-generation systems and the original Switch are included, not just owners of newer consoles. The sources do not mention separate release dates for any platform, so November 10 appears to apply across the board.

What the game is

Ova Magica mixes farming, monster taming and JRPG elements. Its Steam page describes it as a cozy but adventurous game set in a village called Clover Town, where you take over an overgrown farm.

The creatures at the center are "blobs," which hatch from eggs. They come in dozens of varieties, can be crossbred, and fall into Forest, Storm or Magma types. Blobs can also help with farm chores such as watering crops or producing goods like milk, but the page warns that hungry blobs won't work.

Other features listed on the store page include:

  • Growing crops, berry bushes, fruit trees and odd herbs, then cooking food for your blobs or selling produce at the local market.
  • Building friendships with townspeople through conversation, gifts and battles. Some can become romantic partners.
  • An Active Time Battle system in which attacks push you back on the ATB bar and can cancel your current action.
  • Expeditions into portal dungeons that change each time you enter, with a blob Emperor boss guarding rare eggs.
  • Seasonal festivals and training for the Clover Cup.

The store page credits the game as © 2020 by ClaudiaTheDev, licensed exclusively to Top Hat Studios.

How it has been received on PC

On Steam, 91% of 583 user reviews were positive at the time the page was captured. That figure is for the PC version only. The sources do not include any console reviews or scores.

What it means for you

If you play on a console and have been waiting for a Stardew Valley-style game with creature collecting, you now have a date to mark: November 10. Whichever of the six platforms you own, the game is listed for it.

The sources do not give console prices or confirm which storefronts will carry the game. Check your console's store page for those details closer to launch.
