EA has put 25 titles from its back catalogue on PC, and many of them can now run on modern hardware for the first time, according to Video Games Chronicle (VGC). The games went live on November 5 as part of the Restored Classic Sale and include entries from the Ultima and Wing Commander series, plus Road Rash.

Which games are included?

The source material confirms the main families but does not reproduce the full 25-title list. The Ultima and Wing Commander series are both represented, and Road Rash is part of the restored batch.

EA's own announcement on X says there are seven "Restored Anniversary Editions" for Road Rash and Wing Commander. The other 18 are described as classic games.

Check the Steam, GOG or EA App store pages for the complete list and exact titles.

What does "restored" mean?

VGC says seven of the 25 games are restoration projects. These got extra work so they run as well as possible on modern PCs.

They also include community updates. Popular mods have been built into the official releases.

The other 18 games are being re-released as classics. The source does not say how much work went into each one.

Where to buy and how much

The games are available on Steam and GOG. EA's post also names the EA App as a place to get them.

  • All 25 games are 50% off until November 19.
  • The Ultima and Wing Commander games can also be bought in bundles at 55% off.

The source does not give the base prices of individual games or of the bundles. Those appear on the store pages.

Background

VGC calls this a rare bit of positive news from EA. Fans have long been frustrated that the publisher leaves older games unused rather than updating them.

The outlet adds that the release is unlikely to calm the criticism EA currently faces. It says recent EA social media posts have drawn an overwhelmingly negative response. Much of that comes from people trying to save the Mass Effect series after BioWare's closure.

What it means for you

If you have wanted to replay these older EA games on a current PC, the 50% discount runs until November 19. You can buy through Steam, GOG or the EA App. Fans of Ultima or Wing Commander can compare the 55% bundles with buying single games. Check each store page for the exact title list and prices before you buy.
