One UI 9 Is Rolling Out: Which Galaxy Phones Have It and What to Try First
Samsung's Android 17-based One UI 9 is reaching more Galaxy phones, from the S26 to the S25 and recent foldables. Here is who has it so far and the new features worth trying.

Which Galaxy phones can get One UI 9 now?
One UI 9 first shipped on Samsung's newest foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8. According to BGR, the official rollout then began with the Galaxy S26 series in September.
In recent days, Galaxy S25, S25 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 owners in the U.S. have started receiving the update, BGR reports, with carriers such as T-Mobile and Verizon pushing it out first.
9to5Google is keeping a regularly updated list of every Galaxy phone and tablet that has received a stable Android 17 update. It notes that updates are rolling out in parts of the world, but Samsung hasn't given an exact schedule. If your phone isn't listed yet, you'll need to check for updates yourself.

New features worth trying
One UI 9 is more of an evolution than an overhaul, according to 9to5Google, building on the design introduced in One UI 7. These are the additions that stand out in the sources:
- My FanCam: Open an already-recorded video in Gallery, tap the Galaxy AI menu, and pick a person. The video is reframed to follow them. It doesn't overwrite the original, and Engadget found it worked on-device, even in airplane mode, though a Samsung account is needed.
- Interpreter Thread View: Scroll back through a translated conversation while it's still going. Conversation Mode also translates faster, BGR says.
- Now Brief Custom Cards: Create cards by prompt in categories such as Weather, Health and Videos, and set when they appear.
- Quick panel controls: Resize the brightness and volume sliders and the media player. The sound mode button can be separated from the volume slider.
- Warranty and care menu: A new settings page for checking warranty details and running diagnostic checks, with repair booking mentioned by BGR.
Security gets attention too. You can lock your phone quickly by holding Volume down and the Side button, which blocks biometrics at the next unlock. A blue indicator also appears when an app accesses your location.

Not everything impressed
Engadget tested One UI 9 on a Galaxy S26 Ultra and an S25 Ultra. Its reviewer said the Now Nudge suggestions, which now appear in more places such as conversation notifications, still hadn't shown anything useful. Some of the plainer additions proved handier.
What it means for you
If you own a Galaxy S25 or a recent foldable, keep checking Settings for a software update, as carrier timing may vary. Once installed, My FanCam and the quick panel changes are the easiest to try straight away. Because Samsung has given no full timeline, older or less common models may take longer, so 9to5Google's list is the best place to see whether yours has been updated.
