Georgia Takes No. 1 in AP Top 25 as Texas Falls to 7 and Oregon Drops Out
Georgia moved to No. 1 in the new AP Top 25 after beating Alabama, while Texas slid six spots and Oregon and Florida fell out of the poll entirely.

Georgia is the new No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 college football poll, released Sunday after Week 6. The Bulldogs beat Alabama 20-17 on the road, and Texas lost to rival Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. That combination reshuffled the top of the rankings and sent two big names out of the poll.
The new top 10
Georgia had been No. 2 for five straight polls. It received 66 first-place votes, according to ESPN. Notre Dame moved up one spot to No. 2 after a 58-7 win over Stanford and got one first-place vote.
Miami is No. 3 with two first-place votes, followed by Ohio State at No. 4. Indiana rose two spots to No. 5 after a narrow win at Nebraska and got the remaining first-place vote.
Alabama stayed at No. 6 despite the loss. Texas, BYU, Mississippi and Texas Tech round out the top 10 in that order.

Who fell and who rose
Texas had held the top spot and was ranked No. 1 before losing to Oklahoma. It now sits at No. 7.
Oregon opened the season with its highest preseason ranking ever, at No. 2. A turnover-heavy 17-15 home loss to UCLA dropped the Ducks to 3-2 and out of the poll. ESPN says that is their first time unranked since a 49-3 loss to Georgia in the 2022 opener.
Yahoo Sports reports Florida also dropped out after a loss to South Carolina. UCLA, now No. 12, made the biggest climb. Kentucky went from unranked to No. 15 with a 35-34 overtime win over LSU, which is now No. 22.
