Pokémon Unite Will End Service on March 23, 2027 on Switch and Mobile
The Pokémon Company says the free-to-play MOBA shuts down on Switch and mobile in March 2027. Here is what players lose, what they keep and what happens before then.

The Pokémon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group have announced the end of Pokémon Unite, the free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game. After the end date, players can no longer log in or play battles.
What players lose
According to the official notice, quoted by Nintendo Life and Gematsu, players will not be able to log in to the game or take part in battles once service ends at 00:00 UTC on March 23, 2027. Until then the game stays playable.
Gematsu notes that the "Pokémon Unite Game Content Guidelines for Online Platforms" will no longer be published or maintained after the shutdown. The companies will also stop providing support for the use of Pokémon Unite video and images.
What happens to purchases
Aeos gem sales were suspended on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC. Players can keep spending gems they already own until service ends.
New Unite Club memberships stopped being accepted at the same time, and automatic renewals are suspended. Current members can keep using their benefits until the end of their current membership period, according to Gematsu.
The new Library feature
An update on Thursday, November 12, 2026, adds a special event and a "Library" feature. During the event, players can obtain various items that have appeared in the game so far, including Unite licenses and Holowear.
The Library lets players view certain records and in-game content after service ends. There is a catch: players must complete the required library data download before 00:00 UTC on March 23, 2027. Anyone who misses it will not be able to use the feature afterward.
Library data generally cannot be transferred when changing devices. Support for the Library will not be available after the shutdown, so any issues should be raised with Support before the deadline.
Tournament still going ahead
The Pokémon Unite Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will be held as previously announced. Qualifier tournaments start on Saturday, December 5, 2026.
Nintendo Life says speculation about the game winding down had grown since it was officially dropped from the World Championships in July. The official notice itself does not give a reason for the shutdown.
The game first launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, and came to iOS and Android on September 22, 2021, per Gematsu.
What it means for you
If you play Pokémon Unite, the key date is November 12. That is when the update arrives with the event for collecting items and the Library download. Download the library data on the device you plan to keep, because it generally cannot be moved to another one.
If you hold gems or a Club membership, you can still use them until the end. Gem sales and new memberships are suspended.
