Paramount Developing Live-Action Cyberpunk 2077 Movie With Transformers Producer
Paramount Pictures is reportedly developing a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film with CD Projekt Red and Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing, but no cast or plot is confirmed.

What was reported
Cyberpunk 2077 is heading to the big screen. Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures is working on a live-action movie based on CD Projekt Red's sci-fi role-playing game, and outlets including Engadget, Polygon and VGC have followed up on the news.
CD Projekt Red is attached to produce alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura. His past credits include the Transformers films, The Meg, Red and Shooter. Polygon notes he is also working on a new live-action Transformers movie with Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay.

What CD Projekt has said
Michał Nowakowski, joint-CEO of CD Projekt, said the company is "excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise." He added that more details would come "at the appropriate time."
The report is very preliminary. Engadget points out that it is unclear whether this is separate from a production deal with Anonymous Content, which was announced in early form back in 2023.
Part of a bigger trend
Engadget says video game adaptations are currently doing brisk business. Polygon notes that Paramount is also bringing Street Fighter and Call of Duty to live-action.
Cyberpunk 2077 is itself based on a tabletop game. Its world of Night City has already inspired the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, made with studio Trigger, which began streaming on Netflix in 2022. A stand-alone sequel series, Edgerunners 2, is due on Netflix on Oct. 20.
The game behind the film
The game follows V, a mercenary who takes a job to steal an implant said to be the key to immortality. V ends up with a biochip holding the memory and personality of rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand. The story is set in Night City, run by the Arasaka Corporation. Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba have key roles in the game, according to VGC.
Cyberpunk 2077 launched in 2020 in a troubled, bug-ridden state. It was later improved and became a fan favorite. Its Phantom Liberty expansion sold 15 million copies, VGC reports. A sequel, Cyberpunk 2, entered pre-production in May 2025 and has no release date.
What happens next
Nothing is confirmed on casting, directing or release timing, so the next signs will be official announcements of a writer, director or cast. CD Projekt says it will share more details at the appropriate time. In the meantime, Edgerunners 2 arrives on Netflix on Oct. 20.
