Rayman Legends Retold Gets PS5-Exclusive Astro Bot Costume, Free to Unlock
Ubisoft and Sony have confirmed a free Astro Bot outfit for Rayman in the PS5 version of Rayman Legends Retold, unlocked at Victor Velour's shop.

Ubisoft and Sony have announced a crossover for the Rayman Legends remake. Astro Bot will appear as a costume you can put on Rayman, and it will only be available on PlayStation 5. Push Square and Gematsu both reported the news, and Push Square also cites the PlayStation Blog for comments from the developers.
How to get the Astro Bot outfit
According to Gematsu, PS5 players unlock the costume for free on their first visit to Victor Velour's costume shop. Push Square describes it the same way: it is a free costume built into the game, and it unlocks once you meet Victor Velour in his shop.
That means there is no separate purchase or code involved, based on what both outlets report. It is a free in-game unlock that is limited to the PS5 version.
Why Astro Bot and Rayman
The collaboration returns a favor. Rayman appeared in 2024's Astro Bot as a Special Bot, according to Push Square. You could find him in the Winter Wonder level, which was part of the post-game Vicious Void galaxy. Gematsu calls the new costume a "full circle moment" after that cameo.
Push Square says Sony wanted to pay the appearance back with an Astro Bot skin in Rayman Legends Retold.
Design details from the developers
Push Square quotes lead character artist Quentin Chaillet from the PlayStation Blog. He said the team wanted the design to be as faithful to Astro Bot as possible while still looking like Rayman.
"That meant carefully adapting the shapes and proportions, especially his large nose, no arms / legs, and his big shoes," Chaillet said, according to Push Square. He added that the team tried to include Astro Bot's reflective metallic parts, glowing blue elements and smooth white surfaces. The aim was to do this without losing Rayman's personality or expressiveness.
Release and other editions
Gematsu reports that Rayman Legends Retold is developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan. It is due on 3 December for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store.
The Steam page, which is the official listing, describes the game as a reimagining of the platformer. It offers solo play or up to 4-player couch co-op, a new sixth realm, 4 new musical stages and 4K visuals. Pre-purchasing any edition on Steam gets the Hoodlum Havoc Pack, with 2 costumes for Rayman and Globox inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. The Deluxe Edition adds Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, a Retro Pack with 4 costumes and an in-game Art Gallery.
What it means for you
If you plan to play on PS5, the Astro Bot outfit comes at no extra cost once you reach Victor Velour's shop. Players on other platforms will not get it, based on the reports. The Steam pre-purchase bonus and the Deluxe Edition contents are listed for PC. The sources do not say whether the same extras apply on PlayStation, so check the PlayStation Store listing before you buy.
